THE GAP THEORY: A GAP BETWEEN MAN AND TRUTH

There is no room for compromising scripture with theistic evolution, progressive creation, the Gap theory, uniformatarianism, the geologic ages and the day age theory and Christians who compromise on these issues are doing it for the sake of academic acceptance are undermining Gods word.

Down through the ages since mans sin nature came into existence through Adam there has been a vacuum in mans heart for acceptance. When our neighbors display rejection toward us because we believe in the God of the Bible we then become tempted to want to compromise the teachings of the Bible so that we do not feel rejected. All down through history Christians have been persecuted in different ways anywhere from being burned at the stake to simply being made fun for being a believer and that can become uncomfortable especially when it means a loss of respect from peers. When rejected for believing in the Bible it then becomes tempting to compromise (water it down) the Bible with long ages and evolution.

The Gap Theory was first invented by Thomas Chalmers in 1814. During a time when many revolutions were taking place one of them the Industrial Revolution. The industrial revolution was looked up to as there savior from working so hard. This was a time of technological advancement and pride. This was also known as the Age of Enlightenment. A time when more and more people thought that God was becoming out dated with our advances in science. To make matters worse there was another revolution going on. This was a revolution against science and authoritative Biblical morality, people were angry at the church. However many people believed that this was the Christian church called the Catholic church. People were tired of its authoritative abuses and its fight against science. Many people were disillusioned into thinking that the Catholic church was the true church. The Catholic Church taught allot of "science falsely so called" They taught that the Earth was flat, the earth was the center of the universe, theistic evolution, and if you challenged the Catholic Church on these issues the least of what they would do to you is put you under house arrest, like they did to Galileo for teaching that the sun was the center of the universe.

Instead of people taking their anger out on the Catholic Church they took it out on God and the Bible, therefore the Christians and the Bible were blamed for all this bad science. This is when people really began to be ashamed and embarrassed of God and the bible so people began to rebel against absolute morality. This attitude manifested itself in people like James Hutton who hated God and the bible. In 1785 he invented the idea called uniformatarianism. Hutton ascribed long ages to the Earth. Then in 1830 A Scottish lawyer, Charles Lyell, with the help of some liberal so called Christians invented the Geologic Column. The Geologic Column shows the evolution of life over millions of years. This column is the Bible of the evolutionists. About this time Charles Darwin was about ready to embark on his voyage on the HMS Beagle. Between James Hutton and his idea of uniformatarianism and Charles Lyell came Thomas Chalmers who convenitly invented the Gap theory to comprmise the Bible with long ages and the Geologic Column.
